Pilar de la Horadada

A newly created municipality created in 1986 from the split of Orihuela, it consists of the center of the city inland and a village on the coast of the Mojón, Mil Palmeras and the Torre de la Horadada, where there is a marina. To the north, next to the Sierra Escalona, is the Pinar de Campoverde urbanization, a high-quality residential area with recreational areas and hiking opportunities on two routes, one of four kilometers within the urbanization and one of ten kilometers that ends on El Río beach. The municipality is mainly characterized by 5 km of well-preserved beaches, including Playa El Mojón (in El Mojón), Playa Las Higuericas, Playa Las Villas, Playa El Puerto, Playa El Conde, Playa Los Jesuitas and Calas de Rocamar (in Torre de la Horadada) and Playa del Río, Playa Palmeras and Playa Vistamar (in Mil Palmeras). You can enjoy very good quality vegetables and fruits. A visit to the Archaeological-Ethnological Museum Gratiniano Baches at C/ Carretillas 19 and the Roman quarries on foot of Playa del Río in Mil Palmeras, next to the Río Seco estuary, are recommended.
